how do we perceive our roles as conflict mediators?

As conflict mediators our emphasis is on neutrality with regard to the dispute issues at hand. Our own interests are not considered during the settlement process but provide methodical guidance and confidential room for mutual debate. A mediatorīs neutral position is required in order for the conflict groups to develop the readiness to commit themselves to a settlement process and find a common solution as a result of successful definition of individual perceptions, emotions and intentions.
